The group


We are a group of companies specialising in metalwork – structural iron, large-scale steel structures, metal interior fittings and metal artwork, as well as repairs and property services

The group consists of three workshops, all of them owned by Blixtljuset AB. They all fabricate and assembly structural metalwork and steel structures of every size, but they have somewhat different specialities:

  • ML Smide experience of major construction projects such as bridges, tunnels and road and railway construction.
  • Smidesbyggarna is more flexible and can undertake fabrication and repair jobs at extra short notice. Specialities: handrails,  stairs and similar steel structures.
  • Stockholm Konst- & Byggnadssmide (SKBS) specialises in the restoration of artwork, stainless structures and metal interior fittings.
There are about 60 of us altogether, and so, thanks to our flexibility in terms of facilities, personnel, machinery and transport,  we can accept assignments which no single workshop would be able to cope with. We have a competence and breadth of experience in the metalwork business which none can rival.

By pooling our administrative and transport resources we are able to cut costs. We also have a common system of time accounting, order registration and delivery, which again means benefits to our customers in the form of better prices, fast service and greater security.

Smidesbyggarna and SKBS are together located in Högdalen, to the south of Stockholm, and ML Smide in Upplands Väsby, on the north side. This geographic spread brings us close to our customers in both the southern and northern parts of the Mälaren Valley (Mälardalen).
